The Citizens’ Committee on Rape, Sexual Assault and Sexual Abuse,
Inc. (CORSA), is committed
to the elimination of rape and other forms of sexual violence, and
to the development of community
responses that promote safety, and sensitivity toward the needs and
concerns of victims and
survivors.

CORSA provides community education and comprehensive professional
training services to
individuals and organizations for the prevention and intervention
to all forms of sexual and
interpersonal violence (including family violence, child abuse,
sexual harassment, and community
interralations, as well as rape and other sexual assault). CORSA
identifies service needs, refers
victims of interpersonal violence to community resources, and
coordinates the Citizens Committee,
a task force to address sexual violence issues.

· The
Buffalo Alumnae Chapter, founded in 1943, annually sponsors programs based
on the national five point program (i.e., Economic development,
Educational development, International awareness and involvement, Physical
and mental health, Political awareness and involvement. This year the
chapter sponsored the School America Program at
Westminster
Community
School
and the Dr. Betty Shabazz Academy at the Dr.
Charles R. Drew Science Magnet. For the past ten years, in colaboration
with the Zerox Corporation, the chapter has sponsored an annual College
Prepatory and
Black
College
tour. Also,
the international Day of Service: Communities Against HIV/AIDS Forum which
was a collaborative effort with the local health care and social service
providers, schools, churches and community organizations. Last year, the
chapter awarded $10,500 to fifteen outstanding graduating seniors. Since
it’s inception, over $125,000 has been awarded to the
Buffalo
chapter.

The Documentary Heritage Program was established by NY State Law in
1988 as a statewide
program designed to help organizations locate, organize, and make
available, historical records
critical to ensuring the survival of
New York
’s heritage.

Documentary Heritage Program offers services to organizations to
assist them in assessing and
strengthening their historical records programs, including workshop
training, site visits and
consultations, and information resource materials.

months (6x a year) as part of

Statewide student, individualism and organization awards are
presented every year in October
