"Black Boys Read Too" Initiative

"Black Boys Read Too" initiative sponsored by the University at Buffalo, Buffalo Public Schools, and Dr. Nargis Hossain of the Jacobs School of Medicine’s Department of Surgery received in May of 25, over 1100 books from the “Books for Kids” program.
The "Black Boys Read Too" initiative is an inspiring literacy program aimed at empowering young Black boys through the transformative power of reading. As part of this community collaboration, the Department of Surgery has encouraged donations of new books to ensure every student in Buffalo has access to stories that reflect their identities and potential. Together, we can uplift future leaders—one book at a time.
