Books For Kids Focus - July 2025

Project Flight and its partners in the Books for Kids program, the Buffalo and Erie County Public Library, Buffalo State University, The Buffalo News, Wegmans, Channel 2 News  and Town Square Media donated hundreds of age appropriate books and comfort stuffed animals to the Western New York Compassion Connection center for grieving children and families .The books and comfort stuffed animals will be given to support grieving children and families who have suffered a loss to pediatric cancer as well as other kinds of losses due to the death of a loved one. They are a one-of-a-kind agency that has a peer-to-peer grief center that offers support through a variety of programs that help individuals and families feel understood and less alone during their times of loss. The executive director, Gwen Mysiak and her staff, are shown below with the Project Flight Co-directors, Dr. Cappella and Dr. Bard.
