Project Flight donates and distributes books internationally to children in Africa, South America, and China and the Federated States of Micronesia, just to name a few.

This program gives schools, teachers, parents, and students access to special, carefully selected collections of books and reading programs. It also specifically addresses the development of parents as reading partners. 

Completed by professors at SUNY Buffalo State, this series featured an array of innovative collaborations on the topic of family literacy.

Developed in partnership with the Governor's office of New York State, Project Flight established the MLK literacy drive in New York City, Albany and Buffalo to collect new books for the most-deserving pre-k through middle school programs with at-risk children.

The Buffalo News started the News Neediest Fund in 1981 with a program that boosts the Western New York Christmas season each year.

The "Black Boys Read Too" initiative is an inspiring literacy program aimed at
empowering young Black boys through the transformative power of reading.

Project Flight and its partners in the Books for Kids program, the Buffalo and Erie County Public Library, Buffalo State University, The Buffalo News, Wegmans, Channel 2 News and Town Square Media donated hundreds of age appropriate books and comfort stuffed animals to the Western New York Compassion Connection center for grieving children and families

Project Flight’s” Books for Kids” program has partnered with
Hispanic Heritage Council of Western New York Inc. since 2014
and has donated over 13,088 books. This year will be the Hispanic Heritage
Council of Western New York's 15th year participating in the event.

On June 11, 2025, Project Flight participated with mayor Christopher Scanlon,
in partnership with the City of Buffalo department of Community services and
Recreational Programming and the Police Athletic League of Buffalo, in
“Mayor Scanlon’s Reading All Stars”, a new year-round citywide initiative designed
to encourage children to read and learn, well beyond the classroom.
