Project Flight annual donation to The News Neediest Fund
The Buffalo News started the News Neediest Fund in 1981 with a program that boosts the Western New York Christmas season each year. Each year, Project Flight donates over one thousand books and toys to promote the importance of literacy and to help make sure children have a happy holiday. To date, Project Flight has given 119,202 books worth approximately $1,374,579.00 over the last twenty-one years.
The monetary funds collected for the program are used to feed families in need during the holiday season. The toy and book donations are distributed to children aged birth to age twelve. Project Flight became a partner of The Buffalo News in 2025 and donated to the program starting in 1999.
